Short Story:
Sunil (Rakesh Roshan) is a young army officer who falls in love with Sheetal (Rekha). However Sheetal does not love Sunil and is engaged to Ajay (Sanjeev Kumar). Ajay is Sunil’s commanding officer. Sunil’s hatred for Ajay turns into awe and respect when he gets to know Ajay while working with him. Sunil realizes that love has many forms and reconciles himself to losing his beloved. Ajay dies on the battlefield and Sunil vows to take care of Ajay's widowed mother.
